All District and State honor bands are an exciting way for students to challenge their performance capabilities past what they're learning in the classroom.

In the fall students will have the opportunity to audition for all-district honor bands.  There are several types of bands including concert bands, jazz bands, and non-traditional (rock band).  Students will complete blind auditions for these groups using a standardized repertoire for each instrument. 

 

Those that are selected for placement in an All-District band will be able to rehearse and perform in concert with other students around the Kansas City area.  Participation in these groups is an amazing honor for being associated with some of the best musicians in the area.

If selected for All-District band, the students will then have a chance to audition for the All-State bands.  As with All-District, those that are selected for All-State will have the opportunity to rehearse and perform at the annual Missouri Music Educators Association Convention at the Lake of the Ozarks in January.
